·         Heavy metal uptake, resistance and transformation by soil bacteria as a function of cell surface properties and metabolic characteristics

·         Biotransformation processes in environments co-contaminated by heavy metals and organics

·         Effect of redox zonation and biogeochemistry on the intrinsic biodegradation of contaminants in aquifers and the vadose zone
